We’ll also have chairs available for those who would prefer to sit. Feel free to be a journal to write anything down and a closed top water bottle!

What can sound do?

By utilizing sound therapy with deep listening practices we can create an ideal entry point for a meditative experience and practice, particularly for anyone who has struggled to embrace more traditional forms of meditation.

It can bring you into a deep state of relaxation, lowering stress, blood pressure, anxiety and aiding in sleep while calming the nervous system.

You’ll be in a supportive and loving cocoon to hold space for whatever experiences come through.

Carpentry Fundamentals: Weekend Shed Build

Carpentry Fundamentals: Weekend Shed Build

Explore the basics of small-scale carpentry for projects at home and in your community!

Class will take place from 9am to 4:30pm on Saturday, June 21 through Sunday, June 22, 2025.

In this hands-on course, you’ll gain an introduction to power tools and carpentry through the collaborative project of building a storage shed for a client. You’ll have the opportunity to read plans, review measuring and marking, and practice cutting wood using a circular saw and a miter saw.  You will also learn the basics of wall framing layout for a small structure and how to cut sheet goods accurately and safely.

As we assemble this structure, we'll have discussions about design considerations when building custom projects like this on our own. If you are hoping to take your basic knowledge to the next level, or gain more flight time using power tools in a safe and supportive environment, this course is for you!

We hope you can join us to affirm the joy and empowerment of building from scratch in a community setting!--an antidote to our fast-paced culture of outsourced builds and disposable designs.

Learn how to measure and mark wood, gain familiarity with the functions and operation of a drill and driver, and make cuts with a circular saw, a miter saw, and a jigsaw. In this introductory course, we’ll discuss settings, blades, and applications for each tool while exploring other common tools that will make your next build/home improvement project a breeze.

What to bring

  • Measuring tape (extras are available to borrow for those who need)

  • Sturdy, closed-toe shoes.

  • Clothing suitable for moderate physical work with power tools. Class will take place both indoors and outdoors as weather allows. Expect to get dusty!

  • Lunch & snacks.

  • A notebook and writing utensil for note-taking.

  • Any questions you may have about personal projects or project ideas.

What We’re Providing:

Attendees are welcome to bring their own items if they have them

  • Safety goggles

  • Ear protection

  • Speed squares and carpenter's pencils

  • A fun and informative experience working with power tools!

What to Anticipate:

  • Expect a fair amount of physical labor with considerable time spent standing and moving around. Plenty of breaks will be provided to ensure everyone is comfortable throughout the day. If physical accessibility is a concern, please email us at info@tierrasagradaschool.org to discuss how we can accomodate.

  • This class values safety, teamwork, and a supportive/uplifting working environment. You can expect to spend much of the class working in pairs and small groups, with space afforded for you to address individual questions and learn at your own pace.

Standard Program Cost: $300/person

  • Sliding scale options are available to lower the program cost for eligible participants.

  • Customized payment plans can be discussed if breaking down payment supports financial accessibility. Please note that using a payment plan will require a non-refundable downpayment in order to secure a spot in the program. Please email info@tierrasagradaschool.org to inquire about payment plans. This option is only provided in cases of financial need.

Intro to Powertools Workshop at Horn Farm Center

Learn how to measure and mark wood, gain familiarity with the functions and operation of a drill and driver, and make cuts with a circular saw, a miter saw, and a jigsaw. In this introductory course, we’ll discuss settings, blades, and applications for each tool while exploring other common tools that will make your next build/home improvement project a breeze.

We'll cover each tool independently while also placing them in context by working together to build a bench from scratch for the Horn Farm Center. This experience will allow you to see power tools in action while getting a glimpse of carpentry design and fabrication. The completed bench will be placed along one of the Horn Farm's walking trails for future visitors and class participants to enjoy.

By learning the basics of power tools, you can begin to take charge of home or garden improvement projects, address fixes with greater confidence, and live more sustainably through creatively reusing local and salvaged materials. Join us to affirm the joy and empowerment of working with the hands in a community setting--an antidote to our fast-paced culture of outsourced builds and disposable designs.

Bring along any questions you might have that will inform current or upcoming projects.

Below is a more detailed look for how we expect to spend our time together. Class plan is subject to change. Please pack a lunch and snacks for the break time between sessions; a fridge and microwave are available for students to use.

There will be time at the beginning and end for processing and integrating. Feel free to be a journal to write anything down.

WHAT CAN SOUND DO?
By utilizing sound therapy with deep listening practices we can create an ideal entry point for a meditative experience and practice, particularly for anyone who has struggled to embrace more traditional forms of meditation.

It can be extremely soothing and bring you into a deep state of relaxation, but it can also provoke a wide range of experiences. When we create space to become our own witness sometimes we encounter unresolved challenges and sound therapy can assist in bringing some of this to the surface.

You’ll be in a supportive and loving cocoon to hold space and process whatever experiences come through.

*I want these safe spaces accessible for all, so I offer a sliding scale to better fit each person’s situation. I also know it’s during the toughest times that we need the most support and I’m always willing to find a way, so please reach out and we’ll figure something out together!

Get Lit! Moon Ceremony for Primal Flow

“You are not defeated when you lose, You are defeated when you quit. ”

— Paulo Coelho

There will be:

  • Movement

  • Moon Medicine

  • Sharing

  • Guided Inner World Exploration

  • Sweet Surrender to Sound

...in this interactive circle ceremony with a sound bath.

Unlock this medicine for your week to end with a “WHOA!”  Click to learn more.

This life, this journey, this daily grind can be SO COMPLICATED! We expend vast amounts of energy in our commutes, our food production, our technological maintenance, our kid’s activity schedules, etc.  With all these complex layers of energy surrounding our lives, there is an important place where simplicity and ease invite us to our human core - the primal flow.

The “primal flow” is in all of us - it’s a space of timeless vitality that carries forth all of humanity on the currency of free-existing energy.

This primal flow really brings us back to the basics of life: the microscopic nitty gritty - the molecular level!  Basically, the tiniest bits of you are made of the elements - Earth, Air, Fire, Water (ether) - and those elements are made of even more basal energy - yin and yang, or the masculine principle and the feminine principle.  This primal flow is colored by streams of these tiny bits mixing and matching to generate the ebb and flow of energy in motion (e-motion) that carries you through your day, and ultimately, your whole life journey.  Balanced and clear primal currents create an easeful experience of ALL the color combinations that come through and at us!

The Moon is a great planetary mama that consistently and steadily cycles “through it all” without fail - all the elements, all the principles, and the combinations of them all!  She is a Grandmother reminding us “This too shall pass” and “It’s just a phase.”  The Moon influences our bodies and minds into a memory of simpler times held in balance with the beautiful complexity of the vast nature of existence around us.  We were never meant to carry the complexity, but maybe the complexity was meant to carry us.

So, we’ll turn to the Moon and allow her to the light way, as we:

1. Move, walk, stretch, and dance through the phases of the moon around a circle
2. Experience the aforementioned mix & match of energy through rhythm & movement
3. Allow ourselves to meet the primal flow within through guided journey work
5. Soften the kinks and sharp turns of modern complexity that block integration of our primal flow through a Surrender Sound Bath

Exchange: $40
